These colossal, ancient motte and bailey castle ruins are perfectly perched along a stunning, lush, woodland covered ridge situated above the River Okement.

Come away for a few hours of tranquil bliss as you explore a deep gorge that has enchanted explorers and lovers of the great outdoors since Victorian times! The area is replete with stunning walks and wildlife sightings and is home to the beautiful 30m cascade of White Lady Waterfall as well as a turbulent pothole called the Devil's Cauldron, visible from a viewing platform. If you fancy a unique nature day out next to a shimmering lake, head to Burrator Reservoir where you can discover the ruins of abandoned farms and learn all about the history of the area at the Discovery Centre.
