Travellers and activities
If you go on a trip to Exmoor in late summer, the high moorlands are transformed into the so-called "mountains purple-headed ". Gazing at the stars with that purple landscape at your feet is an unforgettable experience. Of course, be careful with the beehives of the beekeepers in the area
Exmoor for all agesExmoor ponies are born between April and August, after a gestation period of 11 months. You can often see them in the higher parts of the moor, where they graze with their mothers. If you pay attention, you can also hear the peculiar sound of the Stonechat, a beautiful native bird that sounds like two stones hitting each other. You will cry with emotion when you know the fauna of the place!
Sir Richard Acland, the last custodian of Exmoor, with a herd of thirty ponies founded the famous Anchor herd, which has endured until now.
