Where are the best places to go for a walk around Nerja?
While many people flock to the Costa del Sol for its beaches, the region also has some wonderful hilly areas that provide the best dog walks in Nerja. There are routes to suit all levels of fitness. If you and your dog like to take it easy, try the 3-km walk to Las Cuevas de Nerja. The highlight of this trail is the chance to explore the caves themselves, which provide a dramatic change of scenery. Want more of a challenge? Try the walk to the Ermita de San Isidro, which runs for 10 picturesque kilometres. You'll need to have strong legs to climb up to the ermita, which is a small chapel perched high on a ridge. From up there, you'll enjoy spectacular views that stretch over Nerja and the nearby countryside. The 15-km loop to the Arroyo del Puerto is one of the longest and most rewarding walks in the area. It's best reserved for the off-season though, as it passes Playazo Beach, which is only dog-friendly between October and March.
