Bardsey Island is an island located in Cardigan Bay off the Lane Peninsula in County Gwynedd, North Wales, in the Irish Sea. The island has a monastery established by Saint Cadfan in the 6th century and the Bardsey Bird and Field Observatory. Its highest point is the peak of Mynydd Enlli. It can accommodate a small permanent population of less than 10 people, which is augmented by tourists living in other houses on the island during the summer months.
2. St Hywyn's ChurchThis is a parish church built in the 12th century and consists of two aisles of equal length but different dates. Most of the north side was built in the 12th century, while the south side was built in the 14th century. The building was constructed of rubble, with a slate roof and a bell tower. In addition, the interior was renovated in 2006 and has hammer-beamed ceilings. This is a Grade I listed building.
3. Visit the Bird ObservatoryBardsey Bird & Field Observatory is one of only two recognized bird observatories in Wales and one of only 20 bird observatories on the coast of England and Ireland. The observatory was established in 1953 and has been monitoring birds and wildlife on the island ever since. The observatory is based at the former Christine's Farm, built by Lord Newborough in 1874. It can accommodate up to 12 people from Saturday to Saturday.
4. Walk around Porth and SwntWalk along the coast from Aberdaron to Porth Meudwy, a small fishing bay at the tip of the Llŷn peninsula, once the embarkation point for pilgrims to Badsi Island. There you can enjoy favourite coastal creatures; from the fun of seeing seals, the famous red-footed raven, dolphin encounters and the seagrass beds of Porthdinllaen.
