The area and getting around
Haverfordwest is an ancient and attractive Welsh country town and is regarded as the main trading town in the county of Pembrokeshire, the most curious feature of which is that the town's central core is washed by the waters of the Western Cleddau. This metropolis was established over 1000 years ago and during the Elizabethan era it established itself as the second-largest port in Wales until the arrival of the railway in 1853. Thanks to Haverfordwest, second-largest railway station can be extended throughout the county.
Cradle of historical personalitiesBartholomew Roberts was a famous Welsh pirate and thanks to his number of heists since leaving seafaring he is ranked as one of the most successful pirates in history. Haverfordwest native and film and television actor Rhys Ifans won the BAFTA award for Best Actor in Television in 2005 and his roles in films such as Notting Hill and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 have put his town's name at the top of the charts, as well as his own. Likewise, former footballers Simon Davies and Mark Delaney made history for many years to enhance Welsh football.
