A sign of Branscombe’s past is its Forge, built in the late 1500s and believed to be the oldest thatched working forge in the county. Many are the generations of blacksmiths that have worked in this forge for centuries. Here you can have an insight into the economy of the village in the past and how they made tools and items for fishermen and peasants. The traditional methods are still used at Branscombe forge to make both practical and artistic works acquirable in the showroom. You might see the blacksmith at work in The Forge. The Old Bakery is a welcoming stone built and partially rendered thatched place where you can enjoy delicious homemade cakes with traditional tea and tasty coffee.
