Located in the Lesser Antilles archipelago, in the Caribbean Sea, the island of Martinique is a French overseas department and region. A popular tourist destination for its beaches, natural landscapes and sunny climate, it offers travellers a variety of accommodation options. Thus, while some letting or studio rentals are located in residences directly on the beaches, others are located in the largest city on the island, Fort-de-France.

The most popular types of accommodation in Martinique are certainly bungalows by the sea. Usually equipped with a terrace, they allow you to enjoy panoramic views of the sea and to swim in just a few minutes. For large families or groups of friends, an alternative is to rent a villa. Some Martinican houses for rent have very nice features such as swimming pools, terraces and balconies or large flowered gardens with all the necessary furniture to eat outside.

Martinique's rentals are concentrated along the beaches and in the main cities of the island such as Fort de France, {{La Trinité}{347} and Sainte-Luce. Only the northern part of the island, near Mount Pelee and near the small community of Grand'Rivière, offers relatively few accommodation options. Martinique is part of the Lesser Antilles, an archipelago sometimes also called the Windward Islands. It is located in the Caribbean Sea, south of the islands of {{Guadeloupe}{132047} and Dominique and north of the islands of Sainte-Lucie, {{Barbados}{29497} and {{Saint-Vincent and the Grenadines}{30580}. The Venezuelan coast is about 400 km south of Martinique.

The island of Martinique has many beaches. If you can just sunbathe and swim in it, other activities are possible. Thus, while the Caribbean coast to the west is relatively peaceful, the east coast, nicknamed the windward coast, has much higher winds and waves. No surprise then that it is very popular with surfers. The two most popular beaches for this sport are Anse Bonneville and Anse Charpentier. On the other side of the island, at Anse Dufour Beach, the activities offered range from pedal boats to sea kayaks, water skiing and windsurfing.

This volcano, nearly 1400 metres high, is the highest point on the island. Located in the north of Martinique, it is covered by several hiking trails. Once at the top, you will enjoy a sea view as far as the eye can see. If you are not a confirmed walker, take the car and leave it in the parking lot two kilometres from the summit. This walk will be an opportunity to admire a wide variety of landscapes, such as tropical forests and banana plantations.

Many companies allow you to rent boats for a day. It is also possible to go to sea with an instructor to learn about scuba diving and discover the diversity of marine flora and fauna around the island of Martinique.

Near the Diamond Beach, overlooking the Caribbean Sea, this memorial is composed of fifteen stone sculptures. The work of Martinican artist Laurent Valere, this memorial site commemorates with poetry the abolition of slavery.

This beach is considered to be one of the most friendly on the island. Popular mainly with families, it allows you to enjoy calm waters and optimal sunshine. It is criss-crossed by many street vendors offering snacks and refreshments at any time of the day.
