2. Go for a walk along the Newquay Discovery TrailAlong Discovery Trail you will see slate discs embedded in the ground at several key spots. 3. Explore the River Gannel EstuaryThis tidal estuary separates Newquay and Crantock village. You can go there by car or cross the different bridge crossings on foot. Be careful as sometimes the tide can cover them, including the Trenance boating lake and the one a bit further down can be crossed about two hours either side of low tide. In the summer there is a ferry that covers the distance from May to September. The estuary has a long pilchard fishing history and tin mining. Kayaking and several other water sports are practiced here as well. And if you love nature, you can explore the surroundings and observe the wildlife and watch the birds. There is an abundance of fish such as salmon, bass, and sea trout.

Walk the South West Coast PathWalking and hiking from Newquay opens a wide array of possibilities but the most recommended one is the South West Coast Path with its incredible ocean views, rugged cliffs bordering beautiful beaches and paths along the coast of England. Be careful if you decide to walk along the beach and be aware of tide times before you do! The coastal path goes as far as Padstow passing through traditional Cornish villages along the way. On the way back you can take the bus or just do it the other way around. Heading south, the coastal path continues to Holywell Bay, Perranporth and beyond.
