Newlyn Harbour has bragging rights as home to one of the UK’s largest fishing fleets. Are you an early bird? To get the full Newlyn experience head down to the harbour for the legendary daily fish market. Starting from 4 am, watch as the fishermen haul in their bounty while auctioneers and buyers haggle over prize catches. It’s quite an experience! If you’d rather be served one of these “fruits of the sea” than cook your own, there are a number of pubs and restaurants to choose from right along the harbour. Newlyn is renowned for its artist community and collection of incredible galleries thanks to its deep historical roots steeped in the arts. Each gallery has its own special charm. And, if after all those art galleries, you feel inspired to create some art of your own, then pay a visit to the Newlyn School of Art where you can enrol in painting classes as well as printmaking and more!

One of the best ways to get to know the area is by taking a brisk walk along the Newlyn Village Trail. This scenic trek begins at the Fisherman’s Mission and introduces visitors to the area’s rich heritage through a maze of backstreets, historic hostelries, and of course, the lovely port.

Tucked away between the moors and the sea, Trengwainton Garden to wooded trails, a 16th century home (closed to visitors), beautiful flower gardens and a gift shop. If Trengwainton isn’t enough for you, then drive over to Trewidden Garden for more, and perhaps finish at their tearoom.

Drink connoisseurs will rejoice at the tasting and tours on offer at Polgoon Vineyard. This family run artisan winery is dedicated to producing top notch Cornish wines, ciders and juices directly from their vineyard and orchard in nearby Penzance. Visitors will witness the fascinating wine and cider making process as well as enjoy lovely views and even have a picnic on the grounds.

Opened in 2016, Newlyn Filmhouse is a hip new venue showcasing arthouse films, opera broadcasts and live theatre. Located just opposite the Coombe River and quickly gaining popularity, this is the place to be for exquisite entertainment. To complete your evening, have a meal at their café bar accompanied by delicious locally sourced libations.

The Penlee House Gallery and Museum is a must for art lovers. At this venue, you’ll learn the history of Newlyn’s long running art community as well as see the works of some of its most prominent artists like Stanhope Forbes, Walter Langley and Lamorna Birch. There’s also workshops and events, so stop by and see what’s on!

Bring your friends and family to Cornwall’s Great Escape Rooms for a five-star, award-winning experience. Take your pick of fractured fairy tales, upcoming horror themes and the bank heist. All of which will keep you on your toes as you scramble to solve the mystery before time runs out.
