A recently built holiday cottage offering all modern comforts and finished to a high standard. The cottage with its own private garden is located on a family owned working stock farm. There are uninterrupted views across the stunning Caithness Countryside and whatever the weather the changing colours and hues are a sight to see.
The cottage provides an excellent base for exploring Caithness and Sutherland whilst day trips to Orkney are also easy to arrange from John O'Groats which is just half an hour by car. The peace and solitude that Caithness can offer is unrivalled together with the chance to explore the northern most part of Scotland, Dunnet Head, with the adjoining superb beach with miles of sand which is also a surfer's paradise. The local heritage and culture can be explored in the busy and quaint towns of Thurso and Wick and along the coast to sites such as the awe-inspiring Castle Sinclair Girnigoe. Throughout the area there is an abundance of ancient castles, chambered cairns, and standing stones to discover and wonder at. Not to be missed is of course Castle of Mey the late Queen Mother's former summer retreat
Whether you are looking for outdoor pursuits, be it fishing on the Wick or Thurso, paintballing or quad bike trips there is plenty of choice in the area, or to explore the countryside with the wonderful variety of bird life particularly on the cliffs around coast which are spectacular hosting colonies of puffins, kittiwakes and guillemots. The autumn migration of wild geese has to be seen to be believed. All in all, the cottage provides the best of locations of for a wonderful holiday and is sure to meet all tastes.
